Johnny Dynell Spins the Gay Nineties

JOHNNY DYNELL returns to hit East Village boite CLUB CUMMING for the third monthly edition of his 90s house homage FIRED UP! This month he welcomes BOYBAR and JACKIE 60 Legend and NYC High Priestess HRH PRINCESS DIANDRA (photo above) for a show cum Boybar Homage at 1 AM. The two previous editions have been dancey and joyous, and we hope you’ll join us again on 12/1.
House Music was born in Chicago in the mid Eighties and brought to NY by WAREHOUSE DJ FRANKIE KNUCKLES to LARRY LEVAN’S DJ booth at the mythic PARADISE GARAGE. JOHNNY DYNELL, spinning Fridays and Saturdays at THE TUNNEL, helped introduce this new sound in 1986, and brought his own brand of it to the newborn Jackie 60 four years later. THE JACKIE FACTORY and THE MOTHERBOARDS NYC host at Club Cumming

The tradition of a HOLIDAY HANG, an online community’s designated space for venting, shaking out the holiday demons or occasionally even spreading cheer, was celebrated on our virtual community THE MOTHERBOARDS NYC for many of its early years. That tradition has since merged with the frequent JACKIE FACTORY holiday shows and parties, which began in 1992 at our first JACKIE CHRISTMAS SHOW at LA MAMA. This year we bring the noise to our favorite new East Village haunt CLUB CUMMING, where Factory co-founder DJ JOHNNY DYNELL reigns at a new Sunday Tea Dance, ST(U)D.
Admission is free and the delights will include Factory starlet HEATHER LITTEER, aka JESSICA RABBIT DOMINATION, performing at 7. To grease the wheels even further, CLUB CUMMING has offered 2-for-1 drinks for the official party hours 6-8 PM. We’d advise dancing shoes as Mr. Dynell will be spinning. Of course holiday costuming with Yule, Christmas, Hanukah or Jackie couture in mind is always appreciated, but not mandatory.

Johnny is honored to spin for this familiar and fabulous audience with special guest WHOOPI GOLDBERG and so many of his dance floor regulars in attendance.
