FIRED UP!

Johnny Dynell Spins the Gay Nineties
Friday, January 5

Johnny returns to hit East Village boite CLUB CUMMING for his first gig of 2018 – the latest edition of his 90s house homage FIRED UP! This month he welcomes XAVIER, the beloved SLOW KNIGHTS and SCISSOR SISTERS recording artist/collaborator. The previous editions of FIRED UP have been dancey and joyous, and we hope you’ll join us this Friday for some much-needed warmth!

House Music was born in Chicago in the mid Eighties and brought to NY by WAREHOUSE DJ FRANKIE KNUCKLES to LARRY LEVAN’S DJ booth at the mythic PARADISE GARAGE. JOHNNY DYNELL, spinning Fridays and Saturdays at THE TUNNEL, helped introduce this new sound in 1986, and brought his own brand of it to the newborn Jackie 60 four years later. Now he returns to this signature Dynell early Nineties soundtrack for FIRED UP! For a sample of this sound listen to Johnny’s “THAT JACKIE FEELING” podcast on his Soundcloud page.

JACK YOUR BUSTLE

Presented by The Jackie Factory
Friday, February 16

Johnny Dynell’s debut at OUTPUT in February will be worth the wait. JACK YOUR BUSTLE harkens back to the clever JACKIE 60 themes that exploded Dynell, the club and its creative collective the JACKIE FACTORY to Nineties notoriety. In this night created especially for Output’s PANTHER ROOM, Dynell and the Jackie Factory will explore 1990s House Music and culture through the horn-rimmed spectacles of the 1890s.

Johnny brings to his DJing decades of themed evenings from The Pyramid and Area to Night of 1000 Stevies. Of course the signature Dynell early Nineties Jackie 60 soundtrack will be the key. He’ll be joined by club fixtures PAUL ALEXANDER and the JACKIE MC’s and period costumed go-go. For a sample of the JACKIE 60 sound listen to Johnny’s “THAT JACKIE FEELING” podcast on his Soundcloud page.
